EV Charging Stations Failing to Keep Up with Public Demands!

New research confirms: EV drivers are unhappy with public charging spots. The results are not shocking, as most prefer the comfort of charging at home. Let’s see if authorities can make a difference.

Big shock for EV owners: Latest survey reveals that fast DC public charging stations aren’t making the cut anymore. Satisfaction levels have plummeted by 20 points! Yikes.

Tesla’s Supercharging network reigns supreme with an impressive satisfaction rating of 739. Volta is hot on their heels with a close 665 points. Meanwhile, other networks like ChargePoint, EVgo, and Electrify America fell way behind with customer satisfaction ratings at least 100 points lower.

Electric vehicle (EV) owners are charging up for disappointment!

Our sources reveal that time-consuming charging is the primary reason behind public EV charging dissatisfaction.

Lack of amenities at charging stations and inconvenient locations are also big concerns.

As if that wasn’t enough, faulty stalls and never-ending queues are giving EV users a hard time. With such poor service, it’s no wonder that people are becoming more and more hesitant about making the switch to EVs.

News Flash: Study Finds Charging Woes for EV Drivers

A recent study with over 15,000 EV drivers revealed some surprising facts. About 20% of them stopped at charging stations but couldn’t juice up their ride because of out-of-service stations or frustratingly long lines.

Plus, those who did manage to plug in had to wait for an average of 30 minutes! The survey was done in partnership with the Plugshare app, spanning from January to June 2023.

Will the Situations get Improved?

Car manufacturers in North America, like General Motors, Ford, and Rivian, are copying Tesla’s connector standard for their EVs! Even though Tesla is nice enough to let other EV models use their charging stations with a special adapter, car companies are still making the switch to Tesla’s North American Charging Standard (NACS) for the reliable Supercharging and Destination network. Plus, the plug is way cooler, being more compact and lighter!

On top of that, seven huge automakers have teamed up to make a brand-new charging network in North America (just like Europe’s Ionity), and Mercedes-Benz plans on launching their own network for ALL their vehicles worldwide, starting in Europe.

Australia’s electric vehicle (EV) charging locations are booming, with more than 370 stations currently available and more to come. The RAA, Synergy, Horizon Power and NRMA are committed to bringing more charging options to underserved areas across the country.

Manufacturers such as Tritium, Kempower and ABB are even installing newer, more reliable charging stations. Although charging at home is the best option, some Aussies need public charging stations, especially if power isn’t available.
