Get Ready to Ride: 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee Drops with Seating Options Galore!

23 June: Jeep will release its first electric SUV in Australia.

This new car will be perfect for off-road adventures, and it will save people money because it is a hybrid. Check out the price and more information below.

Jeep has come up with a new variant for its fifth-generation ‘WL’ Grand Cherokee range, which hit the Australian market last year in a long-wheelbase ‘L’ version.

While most variants will still have a 3.6-liter engine, Jeep is introducing a 2.0-liter four-cylinder plug-in hybrid ‘4xe’ for the top-end five-seat Summit Reserve model. Excitingly, the new hybrid will be available later this year.

Jeep has just released their latest model, the five-seat Grand Cherokee. But here’s the kicker: it’s priced at a whopping $77,950 (before on-road costs) which is $17,500 more than the previous generation model.

But don’t let that deter you, this new model comes in four exciting grades: Night Eagle, Limited, Overland and Summit Reserve. And, for the first time, the mid-spec Overland trim is available for the Grand Cherokee L model.

Not only that, the Night Eagle now has a larger 10.1-inch infotainment system, perfect for tech-savvy drivers. Meanwhile, the Limited now boasts a 360-degree camera system, making parking and manoeuvring a breeze.

For the adventurous type, Jeep has homologated an off-road focused Trailhawk five-seat variant (exciting!), but for now, it remains under consideration. Fear not, as there’s a Trailhawk-lite ‘Off-Road Group’ option pack available for the Grand Cherokee Overland.

2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee’s Engine & fuel economy

Jeep’s newest 2023 Grand Cherokee is bringing its A-game with a powerful 3.6-litre petrol engine that can generate 210kW and 344Nm. That’s not all, with its eight-speed automatic transmission, you’ll get to enjoy smooth rides while going off-road as well!

Sadly, the V8 petrol and diesel engines are not an option in this fifth-generation beauty. But wait, there’s good news! A plug-in hybrid (PHEV) powertrain will soon be available for the Grand Cherokee Summit Reserve this year.

This PHEV beauty has a turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol engine with an electric motor that combines to give a system output of 280kW and 344Nm.

Want to take your family for an adventurous road trip? The 3.6-litre V6 has a braked towing capacity of 2813kg and the five-seat PHEV with 2722kg will also do the job!

New Ratings for Jeep Grand Cherokee Safety!

The five-seat V6 petrol model received a fantastic four-star rating from ANCAP. But that’s not all! The seven-seat V6 and five-seat PHEV models boast an incredible five-star rating for top-notch safety. This wasn’t a fluke – these results were achieved using the old testing standard from 2020-22.

What makes these ratings even more impressive is the extensive airbag system. Each model in the range comes equipped with eight airbags for optimal protection. That’s right – dual front airbags, side airbags, curtain airbags, and even airbags for the driver and front passenger knees!

Dimensions

The new Grand Cherokee is bigger and better than ever before! With a longer wheelbase of 2964mm and a total length of 4914mm, it’s wider too at 2149mm and taller between 1799-1801mm. This is compared to the previous model which had a shorter wheelbase of 2915mm, was 4821mm long and 1938mm wide.

If you opt for the seven-seater Grand Cherokee L, you’ll get even more space with a length of 5204mm and height of 1815-1817mm, thanks to the 3091mm wheelbase.

Servicing & Maintenance:

Jeep Grand Cherokee owners, good news! Your car is protected by the brand’s warranty for five years or 100,000 kilometers.

Plus, Jeep’s complimentary roadside assistance program covers you throughout the whole warranty period. And if you service your car at a Jeep dealership, you’ll get an extra year of roadside assistance.

To keep your Grand Cherokee in tip-top shape, maintenance is needed every 12 months or 12,000 kilometers, whichever comes first. But don’t worry, Jeep offers lifetime capped-price servicing, so you know you won’t be charged more than $399 per service for the 3.6-liter engine.

Sadly, we don’t have maintenance information for the plug-in hybrid version yet. Stay tuned for updates!

The new and improved 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee is now up for grabs!

The five-seat version is now on sale, so you can drive around in style and comfort. And wait for it – there’s more! The plug-in hybrid version is set to launch in Australia later this year, so you can now go green and save the environment while looking good doing it.
