Ford’s Mustang GT and Mach-E SUV arrived in Australia early. The cars were shown to the public before their official release. The cars were pre-production models. Australia will get the cars soon.
Both models were driven to the event. The cars are right-hand drive. They are not early customer vehicles. And they are part of a pre-production first-fleet. They wouldn’t normally be seen outside Ford’s premises until after their official launch.
Ford’s product communications manager said the Mustang Mach-E and S650-generation Mustang were special enough to warrant a different approach for their introduction.
We bring out Pre-Production units to Australia. Our team evaluates them. We check specs and do test drives. Mustang and Mach-E orders are strong. We’re ready for production mode.
We’re happy with the demand for both models. Sixth-gen is phasing down because seventh-gen is being made. We have plenty of supply, and customers can place orders easily without a ballot system. We wanted to avoid lotteries like our competitors. The first Mach-Es will come next month.
Ford is releasing three different types of Mustang Mach-E: Select, Premium, and GT. The Select costs $79,990 and has rear-wheel-drive. The Premium has a bigger battery and more power for $91,665. And the GT is the most expensive and has all-wheel drive for $107,665.
Ford hasn’t announced which Mustang models will be launched in Australia yet. They have revealed three powertrain options for the coupe and convertible with manual and automatic transmissions.
