The VF 9 three-row electric SUV is coming to the US this fall, and it’s got some serious range – at least 330 miles! While the EPA hasn’t confirmed it yet, this beats the expected range of Kia’s EV9. And the VF 9 is hot on the heels of the Rivian R1S, which boasts 352 miles on its large-pack battery option.
Although, we haven’t heard about its off-road capabilities yet, unlike the mighty Rivian.
Vinfast, the Vietnamese carmaker, just released updated prices for their latest vehicles in the U.S. market. The Eco model can now travel up to 330 miles on a single charge and will start at a reasonable $83k. For those who want more power, the Plus version has an EPA range of 291 miles and will start at $91k.
Vinfast’s new electric car, the VF 9, has had a spicy price increase since April 2022. Back then, the larger battery version was said to start at $56,000, but now it’s $76,000! The VF 9 Plus grade also had a price bump from $61,000 to $81,000. What gives? Well, Vinfast had plans to use a battery subscription business model back then, but they’ve scrapped it now.
The VF 9 was unveiled at the Los Angeles Auto Show last year, and it looks like a beast. According to Vinfast, it can go from 10% to 70% charged in just 35 minutes due to DC fast charging. Its battery pack is likely to be a massive 123 kwh, based on previous specs. Plus, the VF 9 has dual-motor all-wheel drive, with each motor pumping out 402 hp and 457 lb-ft of torque. It also has some advanced driver assistance systems and smart services that will be updated regularly.
Vinfast shook things up by delivering 45 of its hot new EVs to the U.S. months ahead of schedule.
The Vietnamese automaker was set to deliver them by the end of next year, but Vinfast beat expectations! They also say the VF 9 has already started shipping in Vietnam and is headed for the U.S. in 2023. Vinfast has big plans to keep bringing the heat, with a new factory coming to North Carolina in 2024.
